Rookie of the Year

In “Rookie of the Year” (1993), we follow the story of 12-year-old Henry Rowengartner, whose ambitions to become a baseball player are fueled by his late father’s minor league career. Despite his initial physical limitations, Henry’s fortunes change dramatically when an injury at school leads to a remarkable recovery, allowing him to hurl pitches at speeds up to 103 mph. This unexpected talent catches the eye of Larry “Fish” Fisher, the general manager of the struggling Chicago Cubs, who is excited by the possibility that Henry could be the savior team owner Bob Carson has been desperately searching for.
