Fatherland

Disfavored in his own country, protest singer Klaus Drittemann must depart East Berlin, leaving behind his family to seek refuge in West Berlin. Eagerly awaiting him are American record company executives, hoping to capitalize on his escape from communism for both ideological and financial gain. However, Klaus finds himself just as uncomfortable in the West as he was back home, hesitant to become an expendable asset. Unsigned contract in hand, he travels to Cambridge to reunite with his father, a fellow musician who also fled East Berlin thirty years ago. Accompanying him is Emma, a young French journalist who knows his father’s whereabouts, though she may have her own secrets.
