Pelle the Conqueror
Trailer
Overview
Set in the late 1800s, a ship carrying Swedish migrants lands on the shores of Denmark’s Bornholm island. Among the passengers are Lasse and his young son, Pelle, who seek employment and a better future. They secure jobs on a sizable farm, yet they are demeaned and viewed as inferior. As Pelle picks up the Danish language, he continues to face prejudice due to his foreign origins. Despite these obstacles, their hope of achieving a more prosperous life than the one they left behind in Sweden remains undeterred.
