The Commander

In “The Commander (1988),” Lewis Collins returns as the leader of a group of mercenaries navigating the treacherous terrains of Southeast Asia. This installment boasts an exceptional cast, including names like Lee Van Cleef, Brett Halsey from “Cop Game,” Romano Puppo from “Robowar,” Mike Monty from “Raiders of Atlantis,” and Bobby Rhodes from “The Great Alligator.” This time, Van Cleef assigns Collins a seemingly arbitrary mission: to retrieve a disc loaded with highly sensitive intelligence data. Meanwhile, a government official played by Donald Pleasence hires another mercenary, Manfred Lehman, to ensure the data’s safe transfer. Van Cleef, who isn’t afraid to play dirty, kills Collins’s former bosses and adds Romano Puppo to the team to maintain control. While Collins might not wear his emotions on his sleeve, he quickly identifies potential threats. The mission unfolds with a delightful mix of betrayal, unexpected twists, and plenty of explosive action scenes.
