Goldstone

GOLDSTONE is an impressive new film by Australian director Ivan Sen, well-known for his work on Mystery Road. This intricate and fashionable crime thriller tackles the heavy topics of racism, human trafficking, police misconduct, corporate wrongdoing, and the suppression of indigenous rights. Detective Jay Swan, portrayed by Aaron Pedersen of Mystery Road fame, dives into the mysterious disappearance of a person in the remote mining town of Goldstone. However, his quest takes an unexpected turn when he’s apprehended for drunk driving by the town’s police officer, Josh, played by Alex Russell, known from CBS’s “S.W.A.T.” After his motel room is suddenly attacked with gunfire, the stakes are raised significantly. Jay and Josh, despite their mutual skepticism, start to unravel a deep-seated network of crime and corruption in the town. All clues seem to point towards the town’s ruthless Mayor, played by Jacki Weaver, a two-time Oscar nominee, and the gold mine’s unscrupulous director, portrayed by David Wenham of Lord of the Rings fame.
