Chronicle of an Escape

Based on a harrowing true tale, “Chronicle of an Escape” transposes to the screen the unbelievable ordeal faced by four men as they narrowly evaded death from Argentina’s notorious military death squads in the 1970s. In this 2006 thriller, Claudio Tamburrini, portrayed by Rodrigo de la Serna, is a soccer goalie who, in 1977, is mistakenly seized by Argentine military police and held at a secret detention site accused of terrorism. During the brutal regime from 1976 to 1983, over 30,000 people fell victim to Argentine authorities’ relentless grip, and Tamburrini, enduring severe torture for information he did not possess, thought he would meet their same fate. When faced with an imminent execution, Claudio and his fellow detainees Guillermo and Tano attempt a daring escape, culminating in Tamburrini’s bold leap through a window amidst a storm.
