Behind Blue Skies

In 1975, Martin is a teenager desperate to escape his oppressive family life, dominated by his alcoholic father and weary mother. When his friend Micke proposes they work as waiters at a resort along the Swedish coast, Martin enthusiastically agrees. However, Micke quickly finds other pursuits, leaving Martin to navigate the job on his own. A bright spot in his life is Jenny, a charming fellow server, but unexpectedly, Martin becomes the protégé of Gösta, the resort’s fiery-tempered manager. Although Gösta takes a liking to him, Martin soon gets an insight into the more unsavory aspects of life, discovering Gösta’s various business dealings, which are often less than legitimate.
