Eight Men Out
Trailer
Overview
In 1919, the Chicago White Sox, despite winning a pennant, earned the title of the most despondent team in baseball history due to internal strife and tensions with their tight-fisted owner, Charles Comiskey. Seizing this turmoil as a chance, gamblers manipulated some players, offering them money to intentionally lose the series, though many didn’t receive the full sum promised. At the last moment, Buck Weaver and the legendary Shoeless Joe Jackson resisted the pressure and gave their all to win, with the Sox nearly reversing a 3-1 disadvantage. However, two years later, the scandal erupted, leading to multiple charges against the team. Although the jury declared them innocent, baseball commissioner Landis decided differently, banning the eight players for life. Buck Weaver spent the rest of his life striving to reclaim his reputation. “Eight Men Out (1988)” is available to watch here, giving you a deep dive into this riveting baseball saga.
