Mountain Cry

In Larry Yang’s outstanding sophomore film, *Mountain Cry*, a distressing wail echoes throughout a secluded mountain village. Following La Hong’s (Yu Ailei) tragic death due to an explosive badger trap, the unsuspecting Han Chong (Wang Ziyi) adheres to the village’s mandate by taking on the duty of supporting La Hong’s silent widow, Hong Xia (Lang Yueting), along with their children. As an emotional connection begins to develop between Han Chong and Hong Xia, doubts start to emerge about the true nature of La Hong’s demise. This captivating melodrama not only criticizes intolerance but also tells a deeply believable and emotionally compelling love story. Ready to dive into *Mountain Cry*?
