Dong seung

Dong seung (2003) follows the journey of nine-year-old Do-nyum, who has grown up in the peaceful solitude of a mountain monastery under the guidance of his wise, elderly master. Despite being raised on a regimen of Buddhist teachings, meditation, and daily chores, Do-nyum is haunted by the memory of his mother, whom he cannot remember yet longs to see again. He yearns to be like the other children nearby who enjoy games and attend school. His only other close companion is Jung-sim, an older monk grappling with his own spiritual path. The temple’s groundskeeper reassures the boy that his mother will return someday. Tired of waiting, Do-nyum decides to be adopted by the temple’s benefactor, a wealthy widow who visits every year to honor her deceased son. Watch Dong seung (2003) online here.
