My Big Phat Hip Hop Family

Audrey is your typical music student at a large college in the Midwest, eager to pursue a career in classical music. Yet, her seemingly “normal” persona makes her stand out awkwardly in her eccentric family of performers. Her parents, who ruled the funk/R&B genre in the 1970s, her brother, a formidable presence in the hip-hop and fashion scene, and her streetwise younger sister, reminiscent of Lil’ Kim, create a colorful contrast to Audrey’s life aspirations. Although Audrey feels slightly humiliated by her family’s flamboyant presence and is resistant to the allure of pop culture, she decides to hide them from her new boyfriend, which proves more challenging when her family decides to pay her a visit. The campus will indeed be transformed by their arrival! My Big Phat Hip Hop Family (2005) is a captivating film that you can stream online right now.
