Kid-Thing

Set on the fringes of Austin, young Annie, a 10-year-old with a wild spirit, zips around on her BMX bike, throws dough at passing vehicles, and gleefully destroys objects with her baseball bat. With a father more focused on goat farming and demolition derby than parenting, Annie lacks companions her age, leading her to a life of solitary and mischievous adventures. One day, while exploring the woods, she discovers a woman’s distressing cries for help emanating from an abandoned well. Although drawn to visit the well each day, Annie grapples with her uncertainty about how to address the woman’s predicament. Kid-Thing (2012) captures Annie’s mischief-filled life.
