The Chaperone

The Chaperone recounts the remarkable, yet previously undisclosed, true story of a solitary school teacher who bravely stood against an entire motorcycle gang, safeguarding a middle school dance held in a church basement in 1970s Montreal, Canada. The narrative unfolds uniquely through the unscripted first-person experiences of the school teacher and DJ present that night. To vividly recreate the event, the film utilizes a mix of hand-drawn animation, miniature sets, puppets, live-action Kung Fu, and explosive scenes, all presented in stereoscopic 3D. Impressively, the film features over 10,000 hand-drawn images—many lovingly colored with crayons—boasts an original blaxploitation score, and includes a talented ensemble of over 200 performers. The Chaperone is a creative twist on documentary shorts that captivates with its innovative storytelling techniques. Watch The Chaperone online.
