Alois Nebel

Set in the late 1980s, “Alois Nebel” follows a solitary train dispatcher stationed at the remote Bílý Potok, a village straddling the Czech-Polish border. Alois revels in the solace offered by the deserted railway, finding more comfort in outdated timetables than in human interaction. However, peace turns to turmoil as dense fog envelops the station, triggering vivid hallucinations of century-old trains carrying the ghosts and shadows of Central Europe’s somber history. These haunting visions plague Alois, eventually leading to his commitment to a sanatorium. While there, he meets The Mute, a mysterious man with an old photograph, detained after crossing the border. The unanswered questions surrounding The Mute’s appearance thrust Alois into an unexpected journey. You can watch “Alois Nebel” online, right here.
