Shelter

In the vein of LEMON TREE and JOHN LE CARRÉ, “Shelter (2017)” unfolds as a delicate thriller centered around two formidable women in Germany. Mona, a Lebanese woman portrayed by Golshifteh Farahani, finds herself entangled with Naomi, an Israeli Mossad operative played by Neta Riskin. Tasked with safeguarding their source while Naomi recovers from a plastic surgery meant to forge a new identity, the pair share a secluded apartment in Hamburg, effectively serving as both a sanctuary and a trap. What was meant to be a brief, quiet stay quickly spirals into danger none could foresee, forcing them to seek refuge from their place of refuge. Their burgeoning relationship is tested against a backdrop of global terror, evolving in unexpected ways under this tension. As layers of deceit fray their beliefs, they find themselves making decisions beyond their control. Yet, in this maze of suspense and style indicative of neo-noir filmmaking, destinies unfold in surprising directions. The subtleties of “Shelter (2017)” are accessible to you online. Right here.
