L’autre maison

Another House, directed by Mathieu Roy, is an emotionally charged family drama showcasing the talent of three generations of esteemed Quebec actors. The story centers around Henri Bernard, portrayed by Marcel Sabourin, an 86-year-old grappling with the decline of his mental faculties. His two sons, a globe-trotting photojournalist played by Roy Dupuis and a budding pilot portrayed by Emile Proulx-Cloutier, are at odds about how to care for their aging father, who resides with the younger son in a secluded woodland cottage. As Henri’s condition worsens, the family is forced to confront their differences, particularly after a tragedy in Afghanistan involving the photojournalist’s translator. Filmed across Quebec, Iceland, Africa, and Asia, L’Autre maison intertwines themes of memory, perception, and lyricism, transcending typical family matters to explore the intricate relationship between nature and humanity.
