Sweetie

“Sweetie” (1989) is a deep dive into the lives of two sisters in their twenties, their family, and the dysfunctions that define them. Kay, who is awkward and slightly out of sync, consults a fortune teller and falls for a man solely due to a mole on his face and a lock of hair but soon loses interest when he plants a tree in the yard. Sweetie, on the other hand, is commanding, self-centered, and grappling with serious mental health issues. Their parents remain oblivious to Sweetie’s illness, viewing her only as their adorable child. Kay mostly feels frustrated by her sister’s demands, but the story gradually reveals how Sweetie’s condition has stifled Kay’s own growth. Is there hope for her freedom? Watch Sweetie (1989) now!
