A Farewell to Fools

During World War II, a German soldier turns up dead near a small Eastern European village. In a desperate move, the local officials must pinpoint a suspect, or face execution by the Nazis the following morning. With no real culprit in sight, they turn to Ipu, the madman of the village, offering him a hero’s funeral if he will take the blame and accept death in their stead.
