Besieged

After an African leader imprisons her spouse, Shandurai finds refuge in Italy, pursuing medical studies while maintaining the residence of Mr. Kinsky, an idiosyncratic English pianist and composer. Her living quarters are a single room within his grand Roman residence. Kinsky tries to win her affection through flowers, gifts, and his music, fervently proclaiming his love and expressing a willingness to accompany her to Africa, vowing to do anything for her. Shandurai challenges him with, “What do you know of Africa?” before emotionally urging, “Get my husband out of jail!” The narrative unfolds from this pivotal moment, leaving Shandurai with a significant decision to make.
