Pennies from Heaven

Set against the backdrop of Chicago during the Great Depression, “Pennies from Heaven (1981)” weaves a musical tapestry reminiscent of Busby Berkeley’s iconic style. The story follows Arthur Parker, a sheet music salesman facing the challenges of a difficult market as he tries to persuade reluctant music store owners to purchase his wares. Despite being married to the plain and unremarkable Joan, Arthur finds his heart swayed when he encounters the enchanting schoolteacher Eileen in one of these stores.
