Fullmetal Alchemist

Edward and Alphonse Elric are two brothers with a unique gift: the power of alchemy, which allows them to transform one thing into another. In alchemy, the concept of Equivalent Exchange is central—creating something new requires sacrificing something of equal value. After their mother’s tragic death, Edward is driven by desperation to defy an alchemical taboo, attempting human transmutation to resurrect her. Their risky endeavor goes terribly wrong, resulting in Alphonse losing his entire body and Edward losing a leg. In a desperate bid to save his brother, Edward binds Alphonse’s spirit to a suit of armor, sacrificing his own arm and leg. Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) offers an intriguing narrative.
