Set against the backdrop of 1675 England, tensions simmer as religious and political strife loom large. King Charles II’s Catholic brother, James, stands next in line for the crown, yet many Protestants rally behind Charles’ illegitimate offspring, The Duke of Monmouth. The king’s demise promises inevitable upheaval. Far removed from the political gaze of London, the remote region of Exmoor is a wild and lawless place. It is here that farmer Jack Ridd resides with his wife Sarah, their son John, and two daughters. Their peaceful existence is overshadowed by the infamy of the Doone family. Banished aristocrats, the Doones now survive through thievery and murder, with their ruthless exploits echoing throughout the land. Start streaming Lorna Doone (2001) now.
