Ocean Of Pearls

Amrit Singh, a Sikh man with a full beard and turban, frequently encounters racial profiling due to his appearance. When his aspirations to become Chief of Surgery at a leading transplant center begin to fade because of how he looks, he makes the drastic decision to cut his hair, going against a tradition he’s followed his entire life. Concealing this change from his girlfriend and family in Toronto marks the beginning of a series of concessions Amrit makes as he navigates the complexities of hospital politics and healthcare inequalities. A turning point comes when these compromises tragically lead to a patient’s death, prompting Amrit to reconsider the importance of the religious values he’s abandoned.
