Once Brothers

Drazen Petrovic and Vlade Divac formed a strong friendship bound by their passion for basketball, propelling the Yugoslavian National team to incredible success. Their triumphs in Europe led them to the USA, where they achieved groundbreaking NBA stardom as the first two foreign players to do so. However, the disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1991 marked the beginning of a tumultuous era when ethnic tensions flared between Petrovic’s Croatia and Divac’s Serbia. This resulted in the tragic divide of these two friends, who found themselves on different fronts of a brutal civil war. Despite encountering each other on NBA courts, they remained silent foes until Petrovic’s untimely death in a car crash on June 7, 1993. This poignant film narrates the heart-wrenching story of their fractured friendship and the unresolved grief that haunts Divac.
