Six Characters in Search of a Play

In “Six Characters in Search of a Play,” Del Shores, the creator of “Sordid Lives,” presents a film of his one-man show, directed by Emerson Collins, that humorously acknowledges that he’s more of a self-proclaimed thief than a writer. This performance breathes life into six unique personalities that Shores has encountered over the years, which haven’t yet appeared in his previous works. Through hilarious and unexpected anecdotes, Shores shares how he gathered these vibrant individuals and their fascinating stories. Audiences will be introduced to unforgettable figures like Yvonne, a Dallas waitress who detests vegetables; Sarah, an older actress who loathes Trump and is never without her inhaler and cigarette; Jimmy Ray, a Magic Mike enthusiast and a slowly evolving Georgia redneck; Loraine, a former star drama teacher now utterly fixated on adult content; Marsha, who has a peculiar aversion to monkeys and suffers from COPD; and Aunt Bobby Sue, a Republican with racist tendencies yet a surprisingly kind heart.
