Dr. Emma Collins, alongside her team, is spending a third summer on Little Happy Island, examining how climate change influences the great white sharks that annually return to the nearby nursery to give birth. Their tranquil routine alongside the two remaining residents of the once-thriving fishing community is abruptly interrupted by the arrival of a “scientific” team led by Richard, Emma’s former boyfriend and a fellow marine biologist. They are in pursuit of three bull sharks that, as it turns out, are not ordinary ones.
