Welcome to Pine Lake

Nestled in Pine Lake, Georgia, with a population of just 747, is a town that prides itself on being an inclusive haven. Here, nature is cherished, artists are admired, volunteerism flourishes, and women hold influential roles in government. However, beneath this progressive facade in the largely white community of the Deep South, there’s a hidden cost of comfort that impacts those outside its city limits. This documentary exposes the stark reality of how Pine Lake’s seemingly liberal image is contrasted by its history of overpolicing. Welcome to Pine Lake (2020) is available for streaming.
