Kim’s Convenience

In this humorous and touching narrative, we follow The Kims, a Korean-Canadian family managing their convenience store in bustling downtown Toronto. The parents, known as Appa and Umma, journeyed to Toronto in the 1980s, establishing their business close to Regent Park and raising their two children, Jung and Janet, who are now young adults. A significant rift developed when Jung was 16, following a physical confrontation and a theft, leading him to leave the family home, and resulting in a lasting estrangement from his father.
