Yes Minister

Primarily taking place within the private office of a British Cabinet minister in Whitehall’s Department of Administrative Affairs, *Yes Minister* chronicles the political journey of The Rt Hon Jim Hacker MP, portrayed by Paul Eddington. The series delves into his multiple challenges of creating and implementing legislation, often thwarted by the British Civil Service, especially his persistent Permanent Secretary, Sir Humphrey Appleby, brought to life by Nigel Hawthorne. Adding to the dynamic is Bernard Woolley, his Principal Private Secretary, played by Derek Fowlds, who frequently finds himself torn between the conflicting agendas. The follow-up series, *Yes, Prime Minister*, brings back the original cast as it explores Jim Hacker’s premiership following his surprising rise to the Prime Minister’s office after the previous leader’s resignation.
