The Black Balloon

As Thomas turns 16, his life is filled with challenges. His father is in the army, and the family has just relocated to a new town in New South Wales. Meanwhile, his mother is expecting a baby, and his older brother Charlie, who has autism, faces his own adolescent struggles. Thomas often feels embarrassed by Charlie’s behavior, especially when he develops feelings for Jackie, a girl from his swim class. Charlie becomes a stumbling block during her visits, family outings, and birthday celebrations. Thomas must navigate the complexities of teenage romance while being a supportive brother.
