Experimenter

In 1961, at Yale University, Stanley Milgram conducts a groundbreaking psychology experiment with lasting impact. Participants believe they are inflicting harmful electric shocks on a friendly stranger, confined in a separate room. Despite the stranger’s cries for mercy, most participants continue delivering what they perceive as almost lethal shocks, solely because they are instructed to do so. This study occurs against the backdrop of Adolf Eichmann’s trial, which is broadcast across America, and Milgram’s work ignites discussion in both popular culture and academic circles about obedience to authority. While Milgram is praised by some, others criticize him as deceptive and manipulative, yet his wife Sasha supports him unwaveringly. Watch “Experimenter” for free right here.
