Free State Of Jones

Set during 1863, the story follows Mississippi farmer Newt Knight, who works as a medic for the Confederate Army. Knight is against the concept of slavery and chooses to tend to the wounded rather than engage in combat with the Union forces. Following the death of his nephew in battle, Newt goes back to Jones County to protect his loved ones, only to be labeled a deserter. With no other choice, he escapes and finds safety with runaway slaves hiding in the swamps. By forming a pact with them and other local farmers, Newt spearheads a revolt that alters the course of history. Free State Of Jones (2016) is available for streaming on cineby and 123Movies.
