Codebreaker

Alan Turing, a brilliant British mathematician, played a crucial role in deciphering the German naval Enigma Code during World War II, an achievement that potentially saved countless lives. Despite his monumental contributions, Turing’s work went unnoticed in his lifetime, and he faced prosecution for being gay, which was considered a crime back then. In 1952, he was found guilty of ‘gross indecency’ with a man and was subjected to ‘organo-therapy,’ a form of chemical castration. Tragically, just two years later, at the age of 41, Turing ended his own life using cyanide, deeply disillusioned by the country he had helped protect. You can watch Codebreaker (2011) right here.
