Lesvia

In Lesvia (2025), the island of Lesvos becomes a beacon for lesbians worldwide since the 1970s, serving as a haven connected to the legacy of ancient Greek poet Sappho. As they establish their own vibrant and inclusive community within a quaint local village, tensions begin to arise with the area’s original inhabitants. These conflicts reflect deeper questions as both groups lay claim to the essence of lesbian identity. Filmmaker Tzeli Hadjidimitriou, a native of this island and a lesbian herself, finds herself navigating these complexities while documenting over four decades of love, friendship, and the quest for belonging.
