Are relationships all built on deceit? In north Boston, Jake Bianski manages a fish market amidst a community of Italians. He’s long been infatuated with Isabella, an ex-girlfriend now married and uninterested in him. Despite this, Jake claims to everyone that she is his girlfriend, including Marisa, a vet whom his colleagues introduce to him at an Italian singles gathering. Initially intrigued, Marisa loses interest upon learning about Jake’s fictitious girlfriend, though he continues to pursue her friendship. As their friendship navigates its way forward, Jake starts to see that the truth might be more satisfying than his dreams.
