Trailer
Overview
“Words and Music” (1948) is an homage to the life of Larry Hart (1895-1943), portrayed through an invented narrative from the viewpoint of his songwriting partner, Richard Rodgers (1902-1979). The film documents their initial encounter, the challenging times they endured, and their subsequent triumph in the entertainment industry, from Broadway to London and finally Hollywood. Audiences witness the artistic achievements of Hart and Rodgers through grandly-produced sequences from their theatrical productions, lively nightclub scenes, and spontaneous performances at social gatherings. The storyline also delves into Larry’s erratic lifestyle, his ill-fated romance with Peggy McNeil, his discontentment, and Richard’s ultimate success in winning over Dorothy Feiner.
