Milada

The film follows the tragic and powerful story of Milada Horáková, a prominent figure who stood against the communist takeover in Czechoslovakia. Despite her resistance to the communist coup in 1948, Horáková chose to stay in her homeland. Her steadfast opposition led to her arrest and she became one of the first to be accused of treason on false grounds during a notorious show trial. This trial, widely disseminated via radio and film clips, serves as a chilling reminder of the period between 1945 and 1950 when communists consolidated their power; however, the film also offers glimpses into Horáková’s earlier life in the late 1930s.
