A Month in the Country

In the 1920s setting of “A Month in the Country,” we meet Tom Birkin, tasked with restoring a medieval mural in an Oxgodby church, in the serene Yorkshire countryside. This peaceful retreat offers solace and healing for Birkin, who is burdened by the memories of his tumultuous past during World War I. As he becomes accustomed to the tranquil rhythms of village life, the process of uncovering the painting allows him to shed the stammer and tics brought about by trauma. It’s a heartfelt narrative of healing and renewal set against a picturesque backdrop. A Month in the Country is available to stream.
