A Prominent Patient

Set in 1939, the story follows Czech diplomat Jan Masaryk, who has escaped to America to leave his turbulent past behind. The invasion of Czechoslovakia by Germany has rendered Masaryk a man without a country. In the United States, he attempts to push aside the memories of betrayal suffered by him and his nation, yet these events continue to haunt him. As Czechoslovak ambassador in London, Masaryk failed to secure British support and prevent his country’s downfall. With assistance from Dr. Stein, a German psychiatrist in exile, and Marcia Davenport, a captivating writer, Masaryk endeavors to confront his inner turmoil and revisit the pivotal events leading to World War II.
