Cold War

Hong Kong is renowned for being the most secure city in Asia. However, on this particular night, chaos erupts as a police van is overtaken by hijackers, seizing weapons and equipment, alongside five officers. One of these officers is M.B. Lee’s only son, who also happens to be the deputy police commissioner. With the chief commissioner absent due to an overseas conference, Lee vehemently assumes control over the rescue mission, aptly named “Cold War.” However, the kidnappers seem well-versed in police procedures, placing them at an advantageous position. Disagreeing with Lee’s forceful yet ineffective tactics, fellow deputy commissioner Sean Lau decides to take the reins during this perilous situation. Despite Lau’s meticulous efforts to negotiate, his plan falters, resulting in the loss of a $50 million ransom and the tragic death of his lieutenant. Simultaneously, the ICAC (Independent Commission Against Corruption) launches an inquiry into both Lau and Lee, suspecting possible connections with the perpetrators.
