Crooked Earth

After a two-decade absence serving in the military, Will Bastion returns to his native land to lay his father, the late chief of the Ngati Kaipuku Maori tribe, to rest. As the eldest son, he faces the expectation of stepping into his father’s shoes, but he hesitates, leaving the duty to his younger sibling, Kahu. Unlike Will, Kahu embraces the role eagerly, bringing with him a group of drug dealers who disrupt the town and wreak havoc on the community. Pretending to reject a land settlement, Kahu entangles himself in a lucrative marijuana deal with dangerous urban criminals. Will is caught in a bind, torn between familial loyalty, respecting Maori customs, and dealing with modern financial pressures. Watch Crooked Earth (2001) now.
