Dog Nail Clipper

In the aftermath of World War II, Mertsi, a once-promising soldier, is now living with the lasting effects of a severe brain injury. As he roams the Finnish countryside in the late 1940s, he seeks out simple jobs and the kindness of strangers to survive. Alongside his supportive friend Eetvi, Mertsi ends up in a lumber camp during a harsh winter, but the demanding work proves too taxing on both his body and mind. Ville, a workmate, shares stories of his intelligent Spitz dog and its dew claw problems, which occupy Mertsi’s thoughts even as he battles wartime nightmares.
