El Presidente

The movie opens with Aguinaldo’s capture by Philippine and US troops led by Frederick Funston in 1901. It then journeys back to 1886, where an old woman gives mysterious predictions to Aguinaldo and his friend Candido Tirona. Fast forward a decade, and Aguinaldo becomes a member of the Katipunan, eventually leading its Cavite chapter while serving as the mayor of Cavite El Viejo. As tensions erupt in Manila in August 1896, Aguinaldo seeks to reassure the Spanish provincial authorities of his non-involvement while discreetly gathering his forces, despite limited weaponry. Discovering the concentration of Spanish troops in Manila, Aguinaldo finally mobilizes and leads the charge of the Katipunan forces in Cavite.
