Entertaining Angels: The Dorothy Day Story

“Entertaining Angels” is a fitting title for this film about Dorothy Day, a social activist in the 1920s and 30s. Her actions, often bold and contentious, in the struggle against social injustice, could indeed provide angels with a captivating spectacle or represent her commitment to the ‘angels,’ those marginalized individuals she tirelessly defended against oppression. She worked as a suffragette. Regardless of its interpretation, the movie vividly portrays the real-life drama of urban streets and the personal tribulations that ultimately guided her towards Roman Catholicism and a life devoted to aiding the impoverished.
