Ghost Rituals

After his business in China collapses, Zong Hua finds himself burdened with debts and makes his way back to Malaysia after ten years away. Upon his return, he is challenged by unemployment and struggles to adjust to his old life, navigating complex family dynamics with his step-father, Xiaotian, the leader of a Cantonese opera troupe, and his half-sister, Jing Jing. The tension with Jing Jing is notably high due to her belief that Zong Hua’s conflicts with their step-father led to their mother’s death. Ghost Rituals (2014) explores themes of family reconciliation and self-discovery.
