Gracie!

In the year 1939, renowned singer and actress Gracie Fields, lovingly dubbed the ‘Queen of Hearts’, reaches the pinnacle of her career. Amidst her battles with cervical cancer, the entire nation is united in wishing her a swift recovery. World War Two erupts, yet Gracie continues to perform for the troops, despite her declining health, much to the worry of her meticulous husband, Monty Banks. Monty’s Italian heritage poses a threat as Italy joins the war, leading Gracie to allow him to relocate to America while she embarks on a Canadian tour to raise funds for the war effort. During this time, she faces accusations of abandoning her homeland and endures boos from the audience, even as she sings at battlefields. Nevertheless, after the war ends, she wins back her fans, notably performing ‘Take Me To Your Heart Again’ at the London Palladium. Although she suffers the loss of Monty in 1950 and never fully regains her pre-war fame, she remains a beloved performer. To watch Gracie!
