Hornblower: The Duchess and the Devil

In “Hornblower: The Duchess and the Devil” (1999), Horatio Hornblower, now serving as Acting Lieutenant, achieves a notable victory by capturing the French vessel, Le Reve, off the coast of Spain. The French captain is deeply frustrated to be bested by someone so young. More intimidating, however, is Hornblower’s introduction to elite society when he’s invited to a dinner hosted by the Governor of Gibraltar and his spouse. The evening takes a surprising turn with the arrival of the captivating Duchess of Wharfedale.
