Inside Deep Throat

In 1972, a low-budget pornographic film, “Deep Throat,” featuring Linda Lovelace, was created in a modest Florida hotel. This seemingly inconspicuous project exceeded all expectations to become one of the most successful independent films in history. Resonating with the era’s zeitgeist, it captured the public’s imagination despite facing fierce opposition from those trying to uphold public morality. For a fleeting moment, it suggested a future where film sexuality could break artistic boundaries. The documentary Inside Deep Throat (2005) explores this film’s production, its phenomenal success, and the intense controversy surrounding it, including mob connections and allegations of mistreatment of its leading actress.
