Ireland’s Wild River

Ireland’s Wild River (2014) showcases the Shannon, the prominent geographical feature and longest river in Ireland. This majestic river serves dual roles as both a boundary and a pathway, acting as a silver ribbon that separates the rugged western landscapes from the softer eastern plains. As it flows southward, the Shannon weaves through a vibrant array of rural sceneries, where untamed fauna and flora continue to flourish in a way seen in few other places. For an entire year, wildlife cameraman Colin Stafford-Johnson immerses himself in the life of the river. He camps along its edges and navigates its numerous tributaries in a classic canoe, tracking the Shannon from sunrise to sunset across all four seasons, in an ambitious endeavor to capture its natural history in an unprecedented manner.
