Ironweed

Set in Albany, New York during Halloween in 1938, Ironweed tells the poignant tale of Francis Phelan and Helen Archer, two drifters who have returned to their hometown. Once, Helen graced the radio as a singer, while Francis showed promise as a major league pitcher. Now, surrounded by the specter of death and haunted by the ghosts of his past, Francis digs graves for a living, even visiting the resting place of his infant son whom he accidentally killed. Despite her illness and their shared hardships, Helen bravely attempts to revisit her past by performing at a local bar. The following day brings a glimmer of familial hope for Fran as he visits his estranged wife and meets his grandson, yet ultimately decides that settling down is not his path. In parallel, Helen manages to retrieve their belongings from storage and secures a hotel room. Through their shared journey of mishaps and neglect, Ironweed delves deep into personal codes of loyalty and fairness. Watch Ironweed free.
